I am honored to have Fred as my father-in-law. I respect Fred for his dedication to our Country and serving in WWII. He is the epitome of a gentleman. I have so many memories and all bring a smile and full heart. Fred welcomed me and my family from the first time I met him. He took us foraging for Chantelle mushrooms, hiking to find the tallest tree on the Sandy River , road trips to Warm Springs where we shared clam chowder ( Fred always had a “ feeling “ about a certain slot machine.) We enjoyed trips to the Coast to watch for whales, morning breakfast with the perfectly ripe avocado , Taco Tuesdays , Krusteaz pancakes and old fashioned oat meal with fifty year old honey. I will always miss Fred. He taught us all that when “
turbulent waters come , straighten the oars and pull “. I love Fred. I always will. I will miss him greatly.
Suzan Thornberg
I loved having the Thornbergs as neighbors on Wallace Lane many years ago, we were constantly at each other's homes; they were my second family. I remember one extra special day, when I got to go pine nut hunting with the Thornberg family - I didn't find many pinecones that day, but had a great time searching and being in the woods. Later, after moving to Oregon, Fred took a few of us to search for chanterelle mushrooms - he was a great guide and we found so many mushrooms that day! I will always remember the good times, laughs, and love. Rest in peace, Poppa T.

Lots of fond memories of Dad. Hunting, camping, fishing, archery. He was a deadeye with firearms and the bow. A true craftsman. He taught me from early childhood a serious work ethic. We worked together for many years.
Fred was a family man, loving father and dedicated husband. Always KIND.
A great father, grandfather and great grandfather.
He will be missed by all that knew him.
Guy (his son)
